Feeling Comfortable

I ran to her and shook her, urgently calling her name. I was ready to do anything I possibly could to help her. I suddenly felt guilty. I reproached myself for keeping her out for hours the day before without thinking about her health. When my voice started to mix with weeping, Suh Yoon slowly opened her eyes. I was relieved to see her pupils. “Are you okay? Do you know who I am?”

She slowly turned her eyes toward me and nodded weakly. I helped her to the bed. The hotel employee asked if we wanted to call an ambulance. Suh Yoon slowly shook her head. She spoke in a barely audible voice. “Water…please.”

Suh Yoon took a sip of the water I brought and lay down again. I wondered if I’d better take her to the hospital, but decided to do what she wanted. Eyes closed, she seemed as delicate as a single white lily. She opened her eyes again and gathered her energy to open her mouth. It looked like she was trying to smile faintly in order to reassure me. I was touched and regretful. Suh Yoon opened her mouth.

“I’m…okay.”

I left Suh Yoon’s room so she could get some rest. We had decided to meet again in the evening. When I left the hotel, I headed toward the Louvre. As I admired the elegantly decorated museum and its Greek and Roman sculptures and European masterpieces, my thoughts were elsewhere. I felt bad thinking about the Guru lying in her hotel.

A thought occurred to me: This is the weight of her destiny to help a lot of people become rich. Suh Yoon was like a brightly shining sun sending out long rays of energy to me, and surely to everyone else she helps. Those rays recharged my body and mind, and hope swelled in my chest. But while she had given me that hope, she’d shared her own energy with me. I felt responsible, both grateful and sorry. I wondered if the burden on her shoulders was too heavy. I wanted to repay her somehow.

When evening came, I went to the restaurant in the hotel where she was staying. She showed up before long, a charming smile filling her face. I’d never have believed she was the person I’d seen lying helplessly on the floor not long ago. As usual, the men in the restaurant all stared at her.

But I couldn’t relax knowing that Suh Yoon had put such energy into caring for me. I said carefully, “Maybe you’d better rest a little longer….I don’t mind going back to Korea.”

She answered kindly, “I feel the worst when people around me worry about me like this. If I sent you away now, I’d feel too much guilt.”

It seemed as if her unimaginable mental strength and willpower helped her to endure. I thought it would be best for her if I respected her wishes. We decided to keep talking about Having.

After we’d ordered our food, I told her about using the signals of Having the day before.
